Bu çalışmada öğrencilerin tenis sporunu tercih etme nedenlerinin anne eğitim düzeyine göre anlamlı bir farklılık gösterirken (χ2=78,405; Sd=30, p<0,05) baba eğitim durumuna göre anlamlı bir farklılık olmadığı belirlenmiştir (χ2=42,763; Sd=30, p>0,05). Ancak baba eğitim düzeyi üniversite ve lisansüstü olanlar aynı kategoride ele alındığında öğrencilerin tenis tercih etme nedenlerinin baba eğitim düzeyine göre de anlamlı bir farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiştir (χ2=40,659; Sd=24, p<0,05). Bunun yanında öğrencilerin tenis tercih nedenlerinin aileden destek alma durumu, ailenin ekonomik durumu, ailede kendilerinden başka spor ile ilgilenen birinin olma durumu ve tenisle ilgileme nedenlerine göre anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Bununla birlikte öğrencilerin tenis sporunu tercih etme nedenlerini belirlemeye yönelik CHAID analizi ile elde edilen karar ağacına göre, öğrencilerin tenis sporunu tercih etmede en etkili değişkenin ailenin ekonomik durumu olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Karar ağacının ikici düzeyinde en etkili değişkenin ailede spor yapan kendisinden başka birinin olup olmadığı ve üçüncü düzeyde en önemli değişkenin çocuğun tenis sporunu yapmasının önündeki engeller olduğu belirlenmiştir.
Purpose: In this study, the role and importance of the family in the orientation of children
engaged in tennis to sports was investigated.
Materials and Methods: The research was carried out analytical-cross-sectional with 352
students aged 3-12 playing tennis at Aydın Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate and Aydın
Engin Arslan Tennis Club courts. The data (Alibaz et al., 2006; Yıldız, 2006; Görgüt, 2012;
Selçuk, 2006; Esen, 2010; KarakuĢ & Hekim, 2014) were developed and the questionnaire used
by Kaya N. was applied. Analysis of data descriptive statistics Using the SPSS 25.0 package
program, CHAID analysis with chi-square test was applied.
Results: In this study, it was determined that while the reasons for students to choose tennis
show a significant difference according to the education level of the mother (χ2=78,405; Sd=30,
p<0,05), there is no significant difference according to the education level of the father
(χ2=42,763; Sd=30, p>0,05). However, when the education level of the father was considered in
the same category, it was determined that the reasons for the students to choose tennis differ
significantly according to the education level of the father (χ2=40,659; Sd=24, p<0,05). In
addition, it was determined that the students' reasons for choosing tennis differed significantly
according to the family support status, the economic status of the family, the presence of
someone other than themselves in the family, and the reasons for being interested in tennis.
However, according to the decision tree obtained by CHAID analysis to determine the reasons
for students to choose tennis, it was determined that the most effective variable in students'
preference for tennis was the economic status of the family. At the second level of the decision
tree, it was determined whether the most influential variable in the family is someone other than
himself who does sports, and the most important variable at the third level is the obstacles in
front of the child doing tennis.
Conclusion: In this study, it was concluded that both the financial means and the moral support
of the family have a very important effect on the orientation of the students to tennis.
