Tarihsel süreç içerisinde insanlığın yaşadığı değişim ve gelişmelerle birlikte
reklamcılık da pek çok alanda değişmiş ve gelişmiştir. Bu durumun en büyük sebeplerinden
biri de geçmişten günümüze kadarki süreçte reklamcılığın kültürle etkileşim halinde
olmasıdır. Kültür, insanoğlunun yaşamını şekillendirdiği gibi o kültürdeki reklamcılık
faaliyetlerini de şekillendiren en önemli olgudur.
Bu araştırmada Türkiye’de ve Portekiz’de yayımlanan Elle moda dergisi reklamları
Geert Hofstede’nin “Kültürel Boyutlar Modeli” çalışmasından yola çıkarak güç mesafesi
boyutuna göre incelenmiştir. Araştırmada Richard Pollay’ın Geert Hofstede’nin güç mesafesi
boyutu ile eşleştirilen reklam çekiciliklerinin her iki ülkede kullanım yoğunlukları
araştırılmıştır. Bu bağlamda içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak veriler elde edilmiştir ve
reklam çekiciliklerinin her iki ülkede kullanım yoğunluklarında anlamlı bir fark olup olmadığı
araştırılmıştır.
By the changes that the society underwent and developments that occurred over time,
advertisements also changed and developed in many ways. The main reason that causes these
changes is the relation between advertisements and culture. Culture is an important
phenomenon that both shapes an individuals’ life and advertising activities.
This study examined the fashion advertisements published in ELLE (fashion
magazine) for both Turkey and Portugal in the light of Geert Hofstede’s study related to
“Cultural Dimensions Theory”. And investigated in compliance with the “power distance”
dimension. The study investigated the density of the advertisements appeals for both countries
that are related to Richard Pollay and Geert Hofstede’s power diversity dimensions. Within
this frame, content analysis method was used to obtain data and also to investigate whether
there was a significant difference or not in the use of advertising appeals in both countries.
