Araştırmanın amacı, ortaokul 6. Sınıf matematik dersinde üstbilişsel stratejiler
kullanımının öğrencilerin üstbilişsel farkındalık ve matematiğe yönelik tutumlarına etkisini
incelemektir. Bu bağlamda araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ön test-son test kontrol
gruplu yarı deneysel desen modelindedir.
Araştırma, 2020-2021 Eğitim Öğretim Yılı’nda, MEB’e bağlı bir ortaokulun
6.sınıfında öğrenim gören 36 öğrenciyle birlikte yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın deney
grubunda bulunan öğrencilerle (n=18) birlikte, üstbilişsel farkındalıklarını ve matematiğe
yönelik tutumlarını geliştirmek amacıyla, 8 hafta boyunca toplam 40 ders saati süreyle
matematik dersi işlenmiştir. Kontrol grubunda bulunan öğrencilerle (n=18) ise mevcut
Matematik Öğretim Programı doğrultusunda matematik dersi işlenmiştir. Veriler; Sperling,
Howard, Miller ve Murphy (2002) tarafından 3.-9. Sınıf öğrencilerinde üst bilişsel becerileri
ölçmek amacıyla geliştirilen, Karakelle ve Saraç (2007) tarafından geçerlik ve güvenirlik
çalışması yapılan “Çocuklar İçin Üstbilişsel Farkındalık Ölçeği B-Formu” ve Önal (2013)
tarafından geliştirilen “Matematiğe Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır.
Ölçekler araştırmanın başında ön test olarak, araştırmanın sonunda ise son test olarak deney
ve kontrol grubundaki öğrencilere uygulanmıştır. Veriler istatistik paket programı
kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin daha iyi yorumlanması amacıyla frekans
analizi, betimsel istatistik teknikleri ve normallik testlerinden Shapiro Wilk Testi
yapılmıştır. Yapılan testlerin sonucuna göre; normal dağılan verilere bağımlı ve bağımsız
gruplar için t-testi kullanılarak grupların ön test ve son test ortalamaları karşılaştırılmıştır.

Araştırmanın sonucunda; üstbilişsel farkındalık ön test ortalamaları
karşılaştırıldığında deney ve kontrol gruplarının üstbilişsel farkındalık puanları arasında
anlamlı bir fark olmadığı (p>0,05); son test ortalamaları karşılaştırıldığında ise üstbilişsel
farkındalıklarının deney grubu lehine anlamlı olarak farklılaştığı (p<0,05) görülmüştür.
Buna göre; matematik dersinde üstbilişsel strateji öğretiminin öğrencilerin üstbilişsel
farkındalık düzeyleri üzerinde olumlu etkiye sahip olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
Matematiğe yönelik tutum ön test ve son test ortalamaları karşılaştırıldığında deney ve
kontrol gruplarının tutum puanları arasında anlamlı bir fark olmadığı (p>0,05) görülmüştür.
Buna göre; matematik dersinde üstbilişsel strateji öğretiminin öğrencilerin matematiğe
yönelik tutumlarını etkilemediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
The aim of the study is to examine the effect of the use of metacognitive strategies in
middle school 6th grade mathematics lesson on students' metacognitive awareness and
attitudes towards mathematics. In this context, the research is in a quantitative research
method with a pre-test post-test control group quasi experimental design.
The research was conducted with 36 students studying in the 6th grade of a
secondary school affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the 2020-2021
Academic Year. In order to improve their metacognitive awareness and attitudes towards
mathematics, a total of 40 lesson hours of mathematics was taught for 8 weeks with the
students in the experimental group of the study (n = 18). Mathematics lessons were taught
with the students in the control group (n = 18) in line with the current Mathematics
Education Program. Data; 3.-9 by Sperling, Howard, Miller, & Murphy (2002). It was
collected using the “Metacognitive Awareness Scale for Children B-Form”, developed by
Karakelle and Saraç (2007) to measure metacognitive skills in grade students, and the
“Attitude Scale towards Mathematics” developed by Önal (2013). The scales were applied
to the students in the experimental and control groups as a pre-test at the beginning of the
study and as a post test at the end of the study. The data were analyzed using a statistics
package program. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistical techniques and Shapiro Wilk
Test, one of the tests of normality, were used in order to better interpret the obtained data.
According to the results of the tests; the pre-test and post-test averages of the groups were
compared using the t-test for dependent and independent groups on normally distributed
data.

As a result of the research; When the metacognitive awareness pretest averages were
compared, there was no significant difference between the metacognitive awareness scores
of the experimental and control groups (p>0.05); when the posttest averages were
compared, it was seen that their metacognitive awareness differed significantly in favor of
the experimental group (p<0.05). According to this; it was concluded that metacognitive
strategy teaching in mathematics lesson had a positive effect on students' metacognitive
awareness levels. When the pretest and posttest averages of attitudes towards mathematics
were compared, it was seen that there was no significant difference between the attitude
scores of the experimental and control groups (p>0.05). According to this; it was concluded
that metacognitive strategy teaching in mathematics course did not affect students' attitudes
towards mathematics.
