Tanrıça Hekate

Abstract

Hekate is one of the most enigmatic of Anatolian/Greek Goddess. Archaeological evidence attests to the popularity she attained as a goddess of the common folk and reveals how widely her worship spread throughout Anatolia, Greece, the Aegean Islands and Italy. Hekate probably originated in southwestern corner of Asia Minor, Caria, but we do not know what kind of goddess is. Hekate is a goddess of the older generation, born of Titan parents. She probably derived from the Anatolian Mother Goddesses like Artemis Ephesia and Kybele. Hekate is the feminine form of Hekatos, a name of Apollon that appears in the Iliad (7.83). My discussion of her approach all of the matter which this thesis. This difference was too striking to be neglected, and I determined to look into the matter, in hopes of discovering whether this early picture was representative of the goddess at that time; or, in archaic time, she really was the antithesis of what she later became in Greece and especially Anatolia.

Hekate, Anadolu ve Yunanistan‟ın gizemli tanrıçalarından biridir. Arkeolojik kanıtlar Hekate tapınımının Anadolu, Yunanistan ve italya boyunca geniş bir şekilde yayıldığını göstermektedir ki bu alanlarda tanrıça yaygın bir popülerliğe ulaşmıştır. Hekate, muhtemelen Küçük Asya‟nın güneybatısına ait Karia kökenli bir tanrıça olduğu bilinmesine rağmen ne tür bir tanrıça olduğu henüz bilinmemektedir. Hekate, en eski kuşaktan olup, Titan bir aileden doğmuş bir tanrıçadır. Hekate muhtemelen Artemis ve Kybele gibi, Anadolu‟nun Ana Tanrıçası türevlerinden biridir. Hekate‟nin erkek modeli Apollon olarak bilinmektedir ki bu isim iliada‟da Hekatos olarak geçmektedir. Amacım, bu tezde Hekate‟nin bütün konularını ele almaktır. Hekate ile ilgili ayrımlar çok çarpıcı olmakla birlikte pek çok ihmal edilmiş noktaları bulunmaktadır ve ben bu çalışmada konuyu ele alıp belirledim. Çalışmada tanrıçanın Yunanistan ve özellikle Anadolu‟daki oluşumunun hem Arkaik Dönem hem de tanrıçayı temsil eden dönemsel erken bir profil betimlenmiş olmasını umut etmekteyim.
