Tanzimat aydınları ile ilk defa gündeme gelen kadın sorunu ve kadının toplumdaki yerinin iyileştirilmesi gerektiği söylemleri, ancak II. Meşrutiyet'in beraberinde getirdiği kişi hak ve özgürlükleri ve eşitlik kavramları sayesinde ciddi bir tartışma zemini yakalamıştır. Meşrutiyet'in hürriyet ortamında, döneme damgasını vuran kadın tartışmaları genel olarak, II. Meşrutiyet'in sorunlarına çözüm arayan fikir akımlarının temsilcileri arasında yaşanmış ve bu kişiler Meşrutiyet basınının sunduğu özgürlük kapsamında düşüncelerini, çıkardıkları dergi ve gazetelere taşımışlardır. Böylece Meşrutiyet aydınları, Osmanlı fikir dünyasında kadın sorununa dikkat çekmişlerdir. Osmanlı kadınının bilinçlenme, örgütlenme ve hak arayışında önemli bir sürecin başlangıcı sayılan II. Meşrutiyet basınında kadın tartışmaları, her kesimden kadının ve Osmanlı aydınının desteğini kazanarak, Meşrutiyet kadının modernleşen çehresine yeni bir imaj kazandırmıştır. Bu imajın oluşmasında günlük, haftalık yayın yapan fikir dergilerinin önemi büyüktür. Osmanlının gündemini belirleyen bu fikir dergilerinden; Sebilürreşad, Beyan'ül Hak, İçtihad ve Türk Yurdu gibi yayınlar, yıllarca görmezden gelinen kadının sosyal ve bireysel hakları hakkında ateşli tartışmaların yaşandığı basın mecraları olmuş, aile, evlilik boşanma ve giyim konularında kadını yeniden izah etme yoluna gitmişlerdir. Çalışmamızın ana temasını oluşturan bu basın mecralarının meşrutiyet kadınına yaklaşımı, kadının bu günkü itibarını kazanmasında önemli bir unsur olmuştur.
Woman problem and appeals about the need to enhance womans status in society had been pronounced fort he fist time by the Tanzimat era intellectuals. However this issue was the opened to discussion only after the notions of personal rights and freedoms and equality which were brought by the Second Constitutional era. Woman issues which seat seal to the period were discussed in the liberal enviroment of the Second Constitution the representives of thought movements who were trying to find solutions for the problems of the Second Constitution era. These people moved their opinions to magazines and newspapers which were published within the context of freedom provided by the Second Constitutional period press. Thus intellectuals of the Second Constitutional period draw attention of the Ottoman thought enviroment to the woman problem. Woman discussions in the press of the Second Constitution which is considered as starting of an important process in the awakening, organization and claiming rights of Ottoman woman took support of all fraction of society and gave a new image to the modernizing face of the woman of the Second Constitution. Concering the formation of this image daily or weekly published thought serials made inportant contributions. Publication like Sebilürreşad, Beyan'ül Hak, İctihat and Türk Yurdu became press centers in which high sprited discussions about long neglected social and individual right of woman. These magazines tried to reinterpret woman in the issues like family, marrieage, divorce, and garment. Attitudes of these press centers towards the womans of the Second Constitution provided immense contributions in the process of enhacing womans contemporary status.
