Abstract: | Amaç: Mevcut tez çalışmasının amacı Covid-19 korkusunu arttırabilecek risk faktörleri ile azaltabilecek koruyucu faktörleri tespit etmektir.
Objective: The aim of the current thesis is to identify the risk factors that can increase the fear of Covid-19 and the protective factors that can reduce it. Material and Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional study and participation is voluntary. The study was carried out in an online environment and was applied to 606 individuals between ages of 18-65 (396 women, 210 men) via Google Survey. Independent samples t-test, ANOVA and linear regression tests were used in the analysis of the data. Results: A statistically significant difference was observed between the mean (M = 14,49) of fear of Covid-19 of female individuals and mean (M = 13,40) of fear of Covid-19 of male individuals [t(604) = 2,00, p < 0,05]. There was no statistically significant difference between the mean (M = 14,48) of the fear of Covid-19 of individuals who had previously experienced Covid-19 and the mean (M = 13,95) of scores of fear of Covid-19 of individuals who have not had Covid-19 before [t(604) = 0,95, p > 0,05]. Gender, Covid-19 avoidance attitudes, Covid19 risk perception and cognitive flexibility variables together showed a significant relationship (R = 0,44, R2= 0,20) with the Covid-19 fear variable (F (1,601) = 36,89 , p < 0,005). Marital status and socioeconomic status variables did not predict the Covid-19 fear variable (p > 0,005). Conclusion: Being a woman, perceiving Covid-19 as high risk, and avoiding Covid-19 were determined as risk factors. The ability to have cognitive flexibility was determined as a protective factor. |
