Abstract: | Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı ADÜ hastanesi yoğun bakım ünitelerinde görev yapan
temini gerekmektedir. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the knowledge and attitudes of nurses working in the intensive care units of ADU hospital on hand hygiene, and to take precautions in cases where there is deficient and insufficient according to the results obtained. Materials and Methods: Our study was based on a cross-sectional survey conducted in ADU Hospital Intensive Care Units between November 2019 and February 2020. While 218 nurses working in intensive care units constitute the universe of our research, 195 volunteer nurses constitute the research group. Chi-square test was used to compare categorical variables among descriptive statistics. The significance level was taken as p < 0.05. Results: 92% of the nurses who participated in our study stated that they applied hand hygiene in the right area. When the factors preventing nurses from proper hand hygiene were examined, it was noted that health problems in the hands, use of gloves, inadequate equipment, time constraints and forgetting were noted with a rate of 79.5%. Conclusion: Hand hygiene is the most effective method for the prevention of hospital infections, which are important health problems all over the world and in our country. Considering the factors that reduce compliance with hand hygiene, regular training and supervision of the team working in the intensive care units, improvement of physical conditions and working with sufficient personnel are required. |
