İnsan doğası ekseninde etik sorunlar: black mirror

Abstract

Teknoloji ve bilimi üreten insan, bir yandan bu ürünler sayesinde hem kendi hem de başkasının yaşamının iyileşmesine önemli katkı sağlarken, diğer yandan da bu ürettikleriyle hem kendine hem de insan türünün diğer üyelerine zarar verebilmektedir. Teknolojinin gelişimi ve ilerleyişi karşısında bir kişi olarak etik kişi ya da ilişki değerlerinden yoksun kalan insanın, bu değerleri yaşamında yok sayarak kararlar alıp, eylemde bulunabildiğini ve yeni etik sorunların ortaya çıkmasına sebep olduğunu görmekteyiz. Bu sebeple, günümüz bilim, teknoloji ve bilişim alanında yaşanan gelişmeler ile insanlığa yaşamı yeniden şekillendirip tasarlama gücü bahşeden yapay zekâ ve biyoteknoloji çalışmalarının ortaya koyduğu devrimler karşısında, felsefi antropoloji ve etiğin sorunlarını yeniden düşünmek, kavramlarının sınırlarını yeniden gözden geçirmek ihtiyacı doğmuştur. Bu çalışmada, günümüz koşullarında aşılamayan yeni etik sorunların varlığını sorgulamak ve bu sorunlar karşısında bilimsel ve teknolojik gelişmelerin etkisini görebilmek, kişilerin ya da kurumların sorunların çözümünde nasıl tavır aldıklarını ortaya koyabilmek için yaşamdan örnekleri göz önüne seren bir dizi olan Black Mirror dizisinden yararlanılmıştır. Bu amaçla, çalışmanın birinci bölümünde, felsefe tarihinde insanın neliği üzerine düşünen kimi düşünürlerin kuramlarında insanın nasıl tanımlandığı, “insan” ve “doğa” kavramlarının nasıl ele alındığı, tek bir insan doğasından mı yoksa birden çok insan doğasından mı söz edildiğine bakılarak, günümüzde bilim ve teknolojideki gelişmelerin yarattığı etik sorunların çözümüne nasıl katkı sağlayabilecekleri ele alınmaktadır. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde, Black Mirror dizisinin bölümlerinde genel olarak dijital yaşamın ve teknolojinin gelişimi ile internetin sunduğu imkanların ve sanal gerçekliğin ortaya çıkardığı ya da çıkarabileceği etik sorunların -özellikle etik kişi değerleri ve etik ilişki değerlerinin yitirilmesiyle- neler oldukları, insan hayatını nasıl araçsallaştırdıkları üzerinde durulmaktadır. vi Sonuç olarak, gündelik hayatta karşılaşabileceğimiz teknolojinin amacını aşarak kullanımından doğan ve hak ihlallerine yol açan etik sorunlar, ancak teorik etik bilgisine sahip olmakla ve bu bilgiyi teknolojiyle ortaya çıkan sorunlara uygulayarak aşılacak olan sorunlardır. İnsanın ve bütün canlıların değerini ve haklarını koruyacak ya da harcayacak olan insan eliyle üretilen makineler değil, akıl sahibi olan insanın etik sorumluluğunun farkında olarak yaptıkları ya da yapmadıklarıdır.

While people who produce technology and science make a significant contribution to the improvement of both their own and others' lives thanks to these products, on the other hand, they can harm both themselves and other members of the human species with these products. We see that a person who is deprived of ethical person or relationship values as a person in the face of the development and progress of technology can take decisions and act by ignoring these values in his life, causing new ethical problems to arise. For this reason, in the face of the developments in today's science, technology and informatics and the revolutions brought about by artificial intelligence and biotechnological studies that give humanity the power to reshape and design life, it is necessary to rethink the problems of philosophical anthropology and ethics and to reconsider the boundaries of their concepts. In this study, the Black Mirror series, which is a series that reveals examples from life, was used in order to question the existence of new ethical problems that cannot be overcome in today's conditions, to see the effect of scientific and technological developments in the face of these problems, and to reveal how individuals or institutions take a stand in the solution of problems. For this purpose, in the first part of this study, in the history of philosophy, topics such as how human is defined in the theories of some thinkers who think about the human nature, how the concepts of "human being" and "nature" are handled, whether a single human nature or more than one human nature is mentioned, is going to be examined, and in the light of conclusions, it will be analysed how these conclusions contribute to the solutions of ethical problems raised by the modern day science and technology. In the second part of this study, in the episodes of the Black Mirror series, the development of digital life and technology in general, the possibilities offered by the internet viii and the ethical problems that virtual reality reveals or can cause, especially with the loss of ethical person values and ethical relationship values, and how they instrumentalize human life are emphasized. As a result, the ethical problems that we may encounter in daily life, arising from the use of technology beyond its purpose and leading to violations of rights, are problems that can only be overcome by having theoretical ethical knowledge and applying this knowledge to the problems that arise with technology. It is not the machines produced by human hands that will protect or waste the values and rights of man and all living things, but what the rational person does or does not do, being aware of his ethical responsibility.
