Aydın’daki Kıbrıs gazilerinin gözüyle 1974 Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı üzerine sözlü tarih çalışması

Abstract

Dünya üzerinde bazı bölgeler her zaman küresel güçlerin dikkatini çekmiş ve stratejik olarak avantajlı olmuştur. Kıbrıs Adası da Doğu Akdeniz’de yer alan stratejik olarak önemi yadsınamaz bir noktadadır. Coğrafi olarak Anadolu’ya bağlı bulunan Ada, 1571 yılında Osmanlı Devleti’nin hâkimiyeti altına girmiş ve 307 yıl boyunca insanları huzur içinde yaşamıştır. 1878 yılında İngiltere’ye geçtikten sonra ise bir daha aynı huzur ortamı sağlanamamış, özellikle Kıbrıs Türkleri için zulüm yılları başlamıştır. 1974 yılında Kıbrıs Adası’ndaki soydaşlarımızı kurtarmak için giriştiğimiz Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı, hem tüm dünyaya bir meydan okuma hem de soydaşlarımıza bu zulümleri yapanlara, Türk askerinin cesaretini ve gücünü gösterme açısından bir onur meselesine dönüşmüştür. Bu çalışmada öncelikle Kıbrıs Adasının tarihi, konumu gereği Adanın jeopolitik ve jeostratejik önemi, tarih boyunca geçirdiği evreler, Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtına giden süreç ve harekâtın nasıl gerçekleştiği incelenecektir. Diğer yandan sözlü tarih çalışmalarının tarih bilimine yaptığı katkı yadsınamayacak derecede büyüktür. Bu yüzden çalışmanın en önemli kısmını sözlü tarih çalışması yapılan Aydın Şehit Aileleri ve Gazileri Dayanışma Derneği’ne kayıtlı 15 muharip gazinin anıları oluşturacaktır. Bu vatanı ve soydaşlarımızın yaşadığı toprakları korumak için canını ortaya koyan gazilerimize hepimizin minnet borcu var. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, 1974 yılında Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtına katılan Aydınlı gazilerin anılarıyla harekâtın bilinmeyen yönlerini ortaya çıkarmak ve Aydınlı gazilerimiz nezdinde tüm gazilerin yaşadıkları sorunları belirleyerek gazilerimizin sesi olmaktır.

Some regions in the world have always attracted the attention of global powers as they are strategically advantageous. It is an undeniable fact that the island of Cyprus is strategically significant in the Eastern Mediterranean. The island, which is geographically linked to Anatolia, came under the rule of the Ottoman Empire in 1571 and islanders lived in peace for 307 years. After it was taken by England in 1878, the same peace environment could not be maintained again, and the years of cruelty started for especially the Turkish Cypriots. The Cyprus Peace Operation, which we initiated in 1974 to save our cognates on the island of Cyprus, turned into a matter of honor both in terms of showing the courage and power of the Turkish soldiers to those who inflicted cruelty to our cognates. In this study, first of all, the history of Cyprus Island, the geopolitical and geostrategic importance of the island, the stages it has passed throughout the history, the process leading to the Cyprus Peace Operation and how the operation was carried out will be examined. On the other hand, the contribution of oral history studies to history science is undeniably great. Thus, the most important part of the study will consist of the memories of 15 war veterans registered at Aydın Solidarity Association of Martyrs’ Families and Veterans. We all owe gratitude to our veterans who laid down their lives to protect this motherland and the lands where our cognates lived. The main purpose of this study is to reveal the unknown aspects of the operation with the memories of veterans who live in Aydın and participated in the Cyprus Peace Operation in 1974 and to identify the problems experienced by all veterans in the eye of the veterans in Aydın.
