This study was performed at Adnan Menderes University Medical Faculty with 240 health sciences students and 120 healthcare workers. Our aim was to determine the prevalence of antibodies against HAV, HBV, HCV and HEV and risk factors. For health sciences students prevalence of anti-HAV IgG was lower (60%) than healthcare workers (83.3%). Prevalance of anti-HAV IgG was significantly increasing with age (p<0.05) and anti-HAV IgG positivity was significantly higher in healthcare workers than in students (p<0.001). Anti-HBc IgG was detected as 6.6% for health sciences students and 10% for healthcare workers. Anti-HBc IgG positivity was significantly higher in health care workers ever exposed to needlestick injury occupationaly (p=0.03). Anti-HCV positivity was not detected for health sciences students and 0.83% for healthcare workers. Anti-HEV IgG was 3.75% for health sciences students and 5.83% for healthcare workers. |
