Abstract: Ülkemiz için stratejik bir öneme sahip olan kuru incir yetiştiriciliğinde verim ve kalite kayıplarına neden olabilen sorunlara çözüm olması düşüncesiyle; güneş yanıklığına karşı kaolin partikül film teknolojisi, meyve çatlamasına karşı osmotik koruyuculardan olan glisin betain uygulaması ile toprak verimliliğine katkı sağlamak üzere örtü bitkisi kullanımının kalite üzerine etkilerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla bu çalışma planlanmıştır.
In contemplation of solving those problems which lead to productivity and quality losses during dried figs production having a strategical importance for our country; this study has been conducted with the aim of identifying the effects on quality of applying kaolin particle film technology against sunburn and glycine betaine which is one of the osmoprotectants against fruit cracking, and of the use of cover crop so as to contribute to soil productivity. The research had been conducted during the growing of 2014 and 2015 seasons in 25 old Sarılop fig orchards. With the purpose of determining the effects of different applications on the quality of Sarılop figs; in addition to control application, the applications of glycine betaine at doses 0.3% and 0.6% against fruit cracking and of kaolin at doses 5% and 10% against sunburn carried out at different frequencies and moreover, cover crops had been sown under the fig trees in order to increase the soil productivity. With the purpose of determining the effects of these applications on the fruit quality; the figs are divided into quality classes as good quality, industrial, cracked and sunburnt and, in the samples of dried figs the values for pH, water-soluble solids (%), titrable acidity (%) and the colour of the outer skin of the figs were determined. When evaluating in general the results obtained from the trial, it's defined that especially the applications of kaolin and glycine betaine contributes to improving the quality of fig fruit according to the control whereas the effects of such applications on the quality of fruit classes were not found statistically significant. Besides, it's proved that the applications of kaolin, glycine betaine and cover crop have statistically significant effects on pH, titrable acidity (%) and the colour of the outer skin of the figs and that especially glycine betaine is more effective for the quality.
