Abstract

İçinde yaşadığımız toplumsal düzen pek çok alana yayılmış çeşitli süreksizlikler içermektedir. İçinde yaşanılan hayatın bu özelliği bugünden yarını öngörme konusunda çeşitli sorunlar açığa çıkarmaktadır. Anthony Giddens geç modern hayatta bu denli yaygın belirsizliklerin kişisel hayatlarımızda bir varlıksal güvenlik duygusu yarattığına dikkat çeker. Giddens geç modern hayatta benliği problemleri olarak adlandırdığı bu temel problemi modernitenin kurumsal düzeyleri ve benliğin gelişme süreciyle birlikte irdeler Bu bağlamda Giddens'ın söz konusu problemin nasıl ortaya çıktığını kendine özgü yakalaşımıyla nasıl ortaya koyduğunu sergilemeye çalışacağız

The social order that we live within consists of some discontinuities which were spread many areas. This characteristic of the life lived within creates a variety of problems in terms of predicting tomorrow from today. Anthony Giddens draws attention to a ontological security problem in our personal lives as an outcome of such widespread uncertainties in late-modern life. He names this fundamental question as one of the problems of self in the late-modern era. In addition he discusses this problem together with the institutional levels of modernity and the self's developmental process. In this respect, Giddens, in his distinctive way, tries to put forth how this problem is emerged.
