Ortaokul öğrencilerinin fen ve teknoloji dersine ait bazı kavramlara yönelik metaforik algılarının incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı fen ve teknoloji dersi “Yaşamımızdaki Elektrik” ve “Maddenin Yapısı ve Özellikleri” ünite kavramlarına yönelik ilköğretim öğrencilerinin sahip oldukları algıları metaforlar aracılığıyla ortaya çıkartmaktır. Araştırma tarama modelinin kullanıldığı nitel bir çalışmadır. Bu çalışmaya İzmir ilinde A İlköğretim Okulu’nun 6. ve 8. sınıfında öğrenim gören toplam 55 öğrenci katılmıştır. Toplanan veriler içerik analizi tekniği ile analiz edilip yorumlanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda çalışmaya katılan ilköğretim öğrencileri yapılan araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre, Ortaokul 8. Sınıf öğrencilerinin fen ve teknoloji dersi “Maddenin Yapısı ve Özellikleri” ünitesi kavramına yönelik kullandıkları metaforlar incelendiğinde, “atom” kavramı için 9 metafor yazılmıştır. “Katman” kavramı için 11 metafor yazılmıştır. “Elektron” kavramı için 14 metafor yazılmıştır. Atom, katman ve elektron için “dünya” metaforu ortak olarak kullanılmıştır. İyonik bağ için 8 metafor, Kovalent bağ için 5 metafor kullanılmıştır. Ortaokul 6. Sınıf öğrencilerinin fen ve teknoloji dersi “Yaşamımızdaki elektrik” ünitesi kavramına yönelik kullandıkları metaforlar incelendiğinde, ”direnç" kavramı için 17 metafor yazılmıştır. “Pil” kavramı için 15 ,”ampul” kavramı için 11, “anahtar” kavramı için 16 ve “iletken tel” kavramı için 13 metafor yazılmıştır.

The aim of this research is to reveal the perceptions of primary school students for the conceptions of units of science and technology lesson “Electricity in our life” and “Structure of substance and its features” via the metaphors. The research is a qualitative research using scanning method. 55 students participated in this research from the “a” primary school in province İzmir. The data gathered is analyzed and interpreted with the method of content analysis. When the metaphors used by 8th grade secondary school students for the unit of “The structure of the substance and its features” in science and technology were examined at the end of the research, according to the results of the students who participated in the research; Nine metaphors for “atom” concept; eleven metaphor for “layer”; fourteen metaphors for “electron” were written. The “globe” metaphor was commonly used for atom, layer, and electron. Eight metaphors for “ionic bond”; five metaphors for “covalent bond” were used. When the metaphors used by 6th grade secondary school students for the unit of “electricity in our life” in science and technology were examined, seventeen metaphors for “resistance”; fifteen metaphors for “ battery”; eleven metaphors for “ light bulb”; sixteen metaphors for “switch”; thirteen metaphors for “conducting wire” were written.
