Abstract: Tekstil endüstrisi Türkmenistan’ın önde gelen ihracatçı sektörlerinden biridir. Son on yılda tekstil ürünleri ihracatı 3 kat artış göstermiştir. Günümüzde tekstil endüstrisi Türkmenistan’da hidrokarbon sektöründen sonra en önemli sektörlerden biridir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkmenistan tekstil endüstrisinin uluslararası ticaretteki karşılaştırmalı üstünlüğünü belirlemektir. Çalışmada Balassa’nın açıklanmış karşılaştırmalı üstünlükler (AKÜ) indeksi kullanılarak tekstil endüstrisinin 14 ürün grubunda karşılaştırmalı üstünlüğü belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışma 2001-2013 dönemini kapsamaktadır. Çalışmada kullanılan veriler Uluslararası Ticaret Merkezi’nin veri tabanından elde edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre Türkmenistan tekstil ürünlerinden 52 (Pamuk) ve 63 (Dokunabilir maddelerden hazır eşya) kodlu ürünlerde karşılaştırmalı üstünlüğe sahiptir. Diğer 12 ürün grubunda ise karşılaştırmalı dezavantaja sahiptir.
Textile industry is one of Turkmenistan’s leading exports. In the last decade, the export of textile industry has grown 3 times. Today, the textile industry is one of the most important sectors in Turkmenistan after hydrocarbons. The aim of this study is to determine the comparative advantage of textile industry of Turkmenistan in the international trade. In this study analyzed the comparative advantage of the textile industry in the 14 commodity groups using Balassa’s revealed comparative advantage index. In study export data for the period 2001-2013 was used. The data used in this study was obtained from the international trade center database. According to the study, Turkmenistan has a comparative advantage in only two groups of products, which are 52 (Cotton) and 63 (Other made up textile articles). The other 12 product groups have a comparative disadvantage.
